Many organizations which support the military have been created in the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas.  Others have located here because of those strong relationships.  All are important to the continued well being of our installations, our troops, and our country.

The Office of Military Affairs (formerly the Office of Military Transformation) coordinates and facilitates the community’s support for BRAC implementation in our community.  The office will work with local community leaders, particularly the Military Transformation Task Force, to develop a Growth Management Plan that will address the challenges and opportunities from BRAC-related growth in San Antonio.

The Bexar County Veterans Service Office is an advocate agency established to assist veterans and/or their survivors in obtaining entitled benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the State of Texas.  The office cooperates with local government agencies as well as non-government service agencies to assist clients in obtaining needed specialized services.

This web site is produced and maintained by the Small Business Development Center and is not affiliated with the U.S. Air Force or the Brooks Development Authority.  UTSA's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides experienced business advisors who provide confidential counseling to individuals, complement-ed by training on a wide range of business topics. This advice is now available to the public at Brooks City-Base.  The SBDC is designed to assist  Brooks Air Force employees and contractors, as well as members of the general public. The SBDC at Brooks primarily focuses on researchers who are developing cutting-edge technologies and new products, as well as on entrepreneurs in the general business community. Individuals and businesses who want to start a new business or to relocate their existing businesses to Brooks City-Base are also eligible for assistance from the SBDC.

The Defense Technology Cluster seeks to become the recognized source for information and resources in the greater San Antonio area for defense (including military operations and sustainment) and technology talent resulting in the creation of jobs. The Defense Technology Cluster will serve as the primary source for leveraging information and resources in order to provide solutions for requirements generators from the federal agencies to the commercial markets. The DTC will create an awareness of technical capabilities in and around the Greater San Antonio Metropolitan area for defense and technology entities and to promote the revenue generation by these companies.

DTI helps the department of defense transform it's people and property.  Formed in July 2004 by the Texas Research and Technology Foundation (TRTF) in coordination with city's Economic Development Department, DTI serves as a proactive intermediary with active military installations for leveraging their military assets.  It helps cities promote economic development on and around  military bases, enhances the military value of local missions, reduces the military installation management cost, accelerates the construction of new base facilities for military missions and leverages military assets and capabilities through enhanced community partnerships.

Veteran’s Affairs Commission

The Veteran's Affairs Commission is an eleven-member board representing the Mayor and ten City Council Districts. The Commission's mission is to serve the City Council in an advisory capacity on issues affecting the City's military population, both active and retired. It serves as the community's liaison and advocate for veterans' affairs; advises the City Council on issues affecting San Antonio veterans and their families; and makes recommendations for improving services. Its goals are to: provide a single clearinghouse for veterans' services offered by local, state and federal agencies; advise City Council on all issues affecting veterans and their families; and establish processes to accomplish the Commission’s mission and goals.
