Force employees and contractors, as well

Defense Technology Cluster

Cluster seeks to become the recognized

Defense Technology Cluster will serve as

generators from the federal agencies to

Defense Transformation
Institute

DTI helps
the department of defense transform it's
people and property. Formed in
July 2004 by the Texas Research and
Technology Foundation (TRTF) in
coordination with city's Economic
Development Department, DTI serves as a
proactive intermediary with active
military installations for leveraging
their military assets. It helps cities
promote economic development on and
around military bases, enhances
the military value of local missions,
reduces the military installation
management cost, accelerates the
construction of new base facilities for
military missions and leverages military
assets and capabilities through enhanced
community partnerships.

to enhance businesses at Port San
Antonio. Customized incentive packages
can also be developed based on specific
needs. In addition, businesses receive
favorable property tax and pay no state,

Activated Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). The
FTZ designation means benefits that

The Veteran's Affairs
Commission is an eleven-member board
representing the Mayor and ten City
Council Districts. The Commission's
mission is to serve the City Council in
an advisory capacity on issues affecting
the City's military population, both
active and retired. It serves as the
community's liaison and advocate for
veterans' affairs; advises the City
Council on issues affecting San Antonio
veterans and their families; and makes
recommendations for improving services.
Its goals are to: provide a single
clearinghouse for veterans' services
offered by local, state and federal
agencies; advise City Council on all
issues affecting veterans and their
families; and establish processes to
accomplish the Commission’s mission and
goals.
